Good morning and Happy Friday! Today is a special day as we celebrate the empowerment of women. As an advocate to all women, I raise a toast in honor of this joyous day.

Celebrate Today And The Importance It Has I started this blog as an advocate to empower and inspire all women.

Significance Of Women’s Day

Women today, can give thanks to all of the inspiring women who took it upon themselves to make a stand for the rights we now have. We have grown exponentially throughout history, in our fight for gender equality. It is a sad but true fact, that women, have had to prove themselves equal from the beginning of history.

In Today’s Society…

We are somewhat, still living in a male dominated world. Don’t get me wrong, women have always had a place in power positions and highly respected (ex. Cleopatra, Grace Kelly of Monaco, Madeline Albright, Margaret Thatcher, etc.). Though these women were respected, they were still unequal to their male counterparts.

With the unleveled playing field of genders, it should be noted that, women are still affected in today’s society and the workplace.

My Experience As A Working Female.

It has been my experience working in the financial industry, for the past 6 years, is still male dominated. Women are generally paid less than men and have a more difficult time with professional development. From what I have seen, there are less women as you move up in position. It is my belief that it has less to do with corporate America but has more to do with a societal norm. For example, I have first hand, witnessed clients shy away from trusting in a woman for financial management, and advice, if a male in the same role is available. Due to the fact that consumers will choose a man to handle their finances, women are then set back in business. It seems that entry level positions in a corporate environment, such as a secretary or teller, are almost even in gender with women taking the lead. As you move up the ladder, there is a gradual drop in the female sector. At the financial advisor level, the drop goes from apparent, to a significant decrease in women, at 10%.

As I mentioned earlier, this information is opinion based, not factual statistics.

I am grateful for the rights I have, and the changes made throughout history to where we are. I hope to contribute towards spreading awareness as an advocate for women.

What’s A Girl To Do?

Ladies, this as an opportunity for us to become great and define ourselves. I not only empower myself, but to women of all walks of life. Only women, truly know what we are capable of. I suggest we, set the standard and mentally set the bar at gender equality, and lets finish what was started for us. Women now have the right to work, thanks to the motivating women throughout history.

As my mother always says “Onwards Ever, Backwards Never”, the true epitome of what a woman should be, I watched my mother raise us single handedly, with nothing less than dignity and integrity through the years. Let’s continue the ever growing movement because…
